Legal Assistant

Leading litigation firm seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant to support attorneys and paralegals. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and takes pride in keeping operations organized and efficient.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, court appearances, and tracking critical deadlines.

  • Prepare, process, and edit legal documents such as subpoenas, contracts, summonses, motions, appeals, and correspondence.

  • Ensure confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive attorney-client information.

  • Open new client files and coordinate conflict-of-interest checks.

  • Collaborate with administrative departments including IT, front desk, accounting, and other support staff.

  • Process billing, including preparing and proofreading billing statements and timesheets.

Qualifications

  • Strong proofreading skills with a high degree of accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills for interaction with attorneys, clients, staff, and external contacts.

  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and efficient under pressure in a fast-paced legal environment.

  • Proactive approach to anticipating the needs of attorneys and paralegals, including preparing standard legal documents as needed.

  • Dependable follow-through on reminders and deadlines to help prevent last-minute urgencies.
