Medical Office Phone Operator (Full-Time)

LR Specialty Practice is hiring a full-time Medical Office Phone Operator to manage a high-volume phone environment in a specialty medical practice. This role is ideal for candidates with prior medical office or call center experience who understand patient flow, insurance processes, and the importance of excellent phone etiquette in healthcare. Starting pay $17 + depending on experience. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and manage high-volume incoming calls in a fast-paced medical office

  • Schedule, confirm, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments using EMR systems

  • Verify insurance eligibility and process referrals and prior authorizations

  • Route patient messages and requests to appropriate clinical or administrative staff

  • Assist patients who may be distressed and escalate urgent concerns appropriately

  • Retrieve and process messages from answering services daily

  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality

  • Monitor office supply inventory and communicate reorder needs to leadership

  • Support team operations through cross-training and additional administrative duties as needed


Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of medical phone room or medical call center experience (required)

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Prior experience in a medical office setting

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent customer service and phone presence

  • Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer applications

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and professional


Preferred Experience

  • Specialty practice or multi-provider clinic experience

  • High-volume scheduling or referral processing experience

  • Insurance verification and prior authorization experience
