Service Clerk

We are seeking a highly organized Service Clerk to support our legal collections team. This position plays a critical role in the litigation process by coordinating service of legal documents, tracking deadlines, and preparing files for the next stage of legal proceedings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and send complaints and legal documents to process servers for service.
  • Monitor the status of service and follow up with process servers to ensure timely completion.
  • Review and obtain Affidavits of Service and ensure they are properly filed in each case.
  • Maintain accurate case records and update internal case management software.
  • Review files for completeness and prepare cases for default judgment once service requirements have been met.
  • Communicate with attorneys, legal assistants, and process servers regarding case status.
  • Track deadlines and ensure all required documentation is received promptly.
  • Perform other administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous administrative or legal office experience preferred.
  • Experience in a law firm, collections firm, or court-related environment is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple cases and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
